About

PRAYER, FASTING & CONSECRATION 2025
The cross is foundational to everything we do as disciples and ministers. If we want to remain faithful to the call God has given us as a global family of churches, we must continue to be Christ-centred.
We look forward to joining together in this time of prayer, consecration, and devotional study that unpacks the words spoken by Jesus on the cross. Our goal is to internalise and apply these words so that they can bring about lasting change. We issue this invitation for you to deny self, carry your cross, and find life (Matthew 16:24–25).
GLOBAL DATES: 06—10 JANUARY
Please check with your local congregation to see what week they have set aside for prayer, fasting and consecration, as dates may differ between different local congregations.
The Cross
2025 Week of Prayer, Fasting, and Consecration
Why the Cross
The cross is foundational to everything we do as disciples and ministers. If we want to remain faithful to the call God has given us as a global family of churches, we must continue to be Christ-centered.
Introduction
"And Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.’” (Luke 23:34) Christ’s forgiveness of His tormentors reveals God’s desire to extend forgiveness to all.
Day 1
Christ’s pardon of the repentant thief who was crucified beside Him reveals His desire to extend eternal life to all.
Day 2
Christ’s relational provision for His mother recorded in John 19 reveals the new community that the cross creates.
Day 3
The Father’s abandonment of His Son as Jesus hung on the cross reveals the horror of sin, the necessity of judgement, and the mercy of God.
Day 4
As He hung on the cross, Jesus told those standing around, “I thirst.” (John 19:28–29). Christ’s physical thirst reveals His full humanity, and why that matters for our salvation.
Day 5
Christ’s declaration that “it is finished” shows that He has fully achieved our salvation, and there’s nothing more for us to add.
Conclusion
Christ’s confident surrender to God shows that life continues after death, assuring us of salvation.
